10 Tips to Achieve Inner Balance

These are serious times…

Pandemics, lynchings…It’s all too much.

How have you been handling it all?

Are your moods shifting? Are you nervous and unsettled? Saddened by recent events?

The energy in the atmosphere is HEAVY. Parasites are feeding off of the highly charged emotion in the air. Maintaining inner balance is of the utmost importance at this time. I consistently make my mental, emotional, and physical well being a priority. There is nothing more important than my peace. Nothing. If you are struggling and in need of an emotional reset I’ve added some tips below. I hope it helps!

  1. Protect Your Energy At All Costs. Disconnect from any discussion, video, news report that elicits heavy emotion.

  2. Take time each day to center your energy. Stop, be still, and breathe. You can do this for 5 minutes per day, 10 minutes per day, however long you choose.

  3. Journal. Writing is a great way to release pent up emotion and shift energy.

  4. Pray. Call on your God and guides to support you during this time.

  5. Get outside. Get out of the house, take a walk, sit on a bench and admire nature. Don’t forget to practice social distancing.

  6. Be Creative. Sing, dance, write poetry, draw. Tap into the playfulness of the inner child.

  7. Find something to laugh at. Laughter can instantly lift your spirits.

  8. If you feel called to take action ask your ancestors and spirit guides for guidance on how to be of service. We all walk different paths. Work on determining which one is yours.

  9. Take a nap.

  10. Make Love, if you can do so safely.

#1 The Full Moon in Scorpio is bringing you the knowledge that it’s time to transform your inner life. Shed the old skin that’s been hindering your forward movement. You are healing as you strive for inner balance. Wrap yourself up in your own love. Take time out for self reflection. Stop and smell the roses. Everything doesn’t have to be so serious. Honor the importance of moderation. Ase.

#2 The Full Moon in Scorpio is advising you to stop. Take a break from the tendency to rush around and get things done. What are you doing to look after yourself, to care for yourself? There is peace and serenity available to you now. Will you accept it? Slow down and enjoy the journey. Life is beautiful. Ase.

#3 The Full Moon in Scorpio is advising you to proceed slowly. There is something that deserves contemplation and a strategic approach. Don’t let emotions drive you? Do not allow anyone to pressure you. Carefully consider your next step. Meditate on it, pray on it, and then act. Be flexible and adaptive in your planning. Have a plan B. There is great creative energy available to you now. Use it or lose it. Ase.

Indulge the Senses

For the next few months, I will choose a card from the African American Tarot deck as a prompt for my blog posts. Let’s see what spiritual insight I come up with!

The Sun + Ace of Chalices + The Hanged Man

As I write this my birthday is approaching. Birthdays always present a paradox for me. I am excited to be approaching another year of life (god-willing). Yet, I am disappointed that I am not where I thought I would be by this age. Each year around this time I experience a sense of joy and mourning.

A year is passing away while another is coming into fruition. And so the cards have fallen with this message. Encouraging you, encouraging me to play, to get out and have fun. Life is not meant to be lived without enjoyment of the senses. The human experience offers us opportunities to smell sweet scents, to tantilize tastebuds, to touch and be touched, to hear beautiful melodies, to see the beauty of creation.

What a waste to squander this gift. Joy and indulgence of the senses injects a fresh sense of well being into the human experience. It flows into our lives and leaves behind a refreshed emotional landscape. In the place of stress, sadness, and striving we find peace.

This week’s message invites us to stop and smell the roses. Stop fighting and wishing things were different. Be still and see with the eyes of the heart. The eye which sees the truth, the truth that you are well. Now, get out and have some fun!!!

Success Is Near

For the next few months, I will choose a card from the African American Tarot deck as a prompt for my blog posts. Let’s see what spiritual insight I come up with!

9 of Pentacles-Success is Near

Usually, success doesn’t come without a fight. In order to get to that bag, we have to dig in our heels and commit to closing the deal. There is a rugged determination successful people carry. They know that nothing but death will stop them from winning. The 9 of Pentacles asks, have you put in the work needed to reach your goals? Have you planted the seeds, watered the ground, and tended to your crops? Are you ready to harvest the fruits of your labor?

If you have done the work, today’s message encourages you to get ready for your returns. You are almost there. Continue pushing towards your goal. The work you have put in will surely pay off. Are you ready? I am!

It's a Celebration!

For the next few months, I will choose a card from the African American Tarot deck as a prompt for my blog posts. Let’s see what spiritual insight I come up with!

10 of Chalices-It’s a Celebration!

For months I lived with a roommate I didn’t particularly care for. He was passive aggressive and acted as if his word was law. Whenever I was alone in the space I felt free, light, and comfortable. Anytime he was home I avoided him. It was a very unpleasant way to live.

Throughout the duration of my stay I was looking for another place to live, which isn’t always easy in NYC. I searched and searched. Visiting apartment after apartment hoping to find a place that met my criteria. I was looking for a spot that was comfortable, peaceful, well-kept, affordable and pet-friendly.

One day I went to see a cute little place in Brooklyn. It was on the second floor of a private home right off the F train line. I could see myself living here in comfort. So I completed the application, gathered my documents and sent them off to the realtor. Finally! This was it. I had found my home.

Days passed and the realtor was unable to give me an answer on the status of the application. He indicated that the landlord was evasive because the current tenants were thinking about staying in the apartment after all. He asked that I give him a couple of days to sort things out. This place, though cute was not my home. I was disappointed. Yet, I was sure that it didn’t work out because it was not supposed to. It was not my time to move, even though I was eager to.

When the timing was right and only when the timing was right I was blessed with the opportunity to move into a beautiful place of my own. It is peaceful, pet-friendly, well-kept, and comfortable. It is everything that I’ve wanted!  And the bonus is that it has gorgeous hardwood floors. (I love hardwood floors!) At times the journey is long and arduous. Hold on. There will be cause to celebrate. Your time is coming.
