Trust Your Ase

Trust Your Ase

Almost 5 years ago I came across the Ifa tradition. It’s been a wonderful and wild ride that I wouldn’t trade for the world. In the early stages, I spent a great deal of time running from place to place seeking information about the tradition. In my seeking, I came across unscrupulous characters and fraudulent information. I was so desperate to gather knowledge that I ignored my better judgment. I am not upset by this. It is part of the process.

Nowadays I am more discerning in my search for knowledge. I’m not thirsty for information. I will not blindly follow anyone who claims to be a Priest, Priestess, or expert. That’s the thing about life. Without those experiences, I wouldn’t be as confident as I am now. Olodumare continues to mold my character and for that I am grateful.

The most important lesson I’ve learned throughout this process is to trust my Ase. In trusting my Ase I am trusting my higher consciousness, my personal power, and my will. I am trusting that I am one with the source of the universe. The source being an ocean of consciousness, me being a tiny drop in that vast ocean. I trust that I am a co-creator. I trust that there is power in my word and will. I trust that I am a mighty force of nature here to fulfill an awesome destiny.

Instead of chasing, pushing, or desperately seeking knowledge; I pray, I listen to my inner knowing and go in the direction of my Ori. There will always be a place for elders and the passing down of knowledge. Yet, we must remember that we too possess an innate knowledge.

Be still. Trust your Ase.

Your Inheritance Awaits!

We’re coming to the end of the intuitive writing series. For the next few weeks, I’ll choose cards from the African American Tarot deck as a prompt for my blog posts. Let’s see what spiritual insight I come up with!

Knight of Pentacles + The Empress

When I pulled these cards something in my spirit stood at attention. I became excited. A sound of exasperation escaped my lips and I felt the word inheritance. Yes, I said I felt the word. I didn’t hear it. When my intuition speaks it does so clearly and with certainty. It screams inaudibly. Suddenly, I know the truth. Suddenly, without any forethought, I know the answer. That’s what happened when I pulled the Knight of Pentacles and The Empress. I examined the symbols, the colors and the general spirit of the cards. And received this message >>> Your inheritance is coming. A gift of abundance and wealth is coming your way. Are you ready to receive it? Your passion and will power are the keys to this abundance. Your adherence to the natural laws of the universe is yet another key.

At this time be sure to put yourself in the position to receive.

Be open.

Stay hopeful & encouraged no matter what your situation looks like.

Pray and make offering.

Take walks in nature.

Pursue joy.

Laugh.

Love.

Rest.

Give.

Embrace your humanity.

Do good.

Be encouraged knowing that your struggle is about to come to an end. Ase.

Being a TRUE follower of Ifa

In December of 2015, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery. I boarded a plane to Lagos, Nigeria and it was there, in the middle of the night, that I found myself. My whole, true essence was called forth by the process of initiation into Orisa. A powerful, body numbing energy came over me. It knocked me down. It was some time before I was able to get up. That energy was Oya. I am a follower of the Ifa tradition. Ifa is the practice of good/gentle character. Ifa is a spiritual tradition and way of life that holds its practitioners accountable. My job is Ifa. My destiny is Ifa. I am grateful.

On this episode of My Orisha Journey, Day Dream Alston/Oyabunmi discusses what it takes to be a TRUE follower of Ifa.
