Greetings Readers!

It’s been a hell of a week and it’s only Wednesday. Feelings of confusion, discord, and dis-ease are in the air thanks to planetary aspects like Mercury Retrograde. In moments like this, it’s important to ground ourselves in the truth. The truth is that in each moment we have the option to choose how we respond to our surroundings. We can choose thoughts and practices that foster feelings of confusion, discord, and dis-ease or we can choose to shift our focus to bring about a better condition.

Thought often precedes emotion. Therefore heavy, negative thoughts invite in heavy emotion. While peaceful thoughts lead to peaceful emotional states. Ahh, the wonders of the human condition! May our thoughts call in peace and balance today.

In need of inspiration, join me on my social media platforms as I share quotes from the holy Odu via the series ‘20 Days of Odu Ifa’. Hope to see you there!

Allow Doubt to Die

For the next few months, I will choose cards from the African American Tarot deck as a prompt for my blog posts. Let’s see what spiritual insight I come up with!

Emperor + 4 of Wands + Death

The number 4 is a prominent theme in this week’s reading. 4 represents stability and the building of a strong foundation. It represents strength and hard work. The number four is calling on you to keep doing the work necessary to progress. Let nothing stand in the way of your forward movement. Get clear on your objectives and use your will to bring them to fruition. Believe you can.

The Emperor doesn’t play, he is fully aware of what he wants and nothing will stand between him and his goal. He is full of fire, stern, the father figure of the Major Arcana. Use your fire and passion for your good.

The 4 of Wands is another fiery energy but fiery in a good way. The 4 of Wands ushers in celebration and camaraderie. You have put in the work, the hard, grueling work and you are ready to reap the rewards. The question is what are you willing to let go of in order to secure your victory? This celebration will only come with the death of unhealthy patterns and ways of being. Allow fear, doubt, confusion, overthinking and negative self talk to pass away. Allow all self imposed obstacles to die. The Emperor doesn’t doubt, he doesn’t fear or self-sabotage. Nor should you.

Gifts from Heaven

For the next few months, I will choose cards from the African American Tarot deck as a prompt for my blog posts. Let’s see what spiritual insight I come up with!

Queen of Wands + Ace of Pentacles

You are being presented with an offer that will increase your bottom line. It’s coming. A proposition, idea, or flash of insight that carries abundance with it. It’s almost as if it’s being handed to you. A gift from the heavens. Can you feel it? After all of the struggle and discomfort of days past you are finally offered respite. Be on the lookout for a powerful, passionate woman whose spirit is big and bold. You’re ‘come up’ may be connected to her or a feminine spirit of fire. Does a particular ancestor come to mind? Mama has come to fight for you and your well being. Offer gratitude.

Additionally, your passion, practicality, and intuition will serve you well at this time. Pay attention to the inner knowings that come up from the depths of your soul. Be aware of the information that appears suddenly. It may be the catalyst for great shifts in your life. Allow passion to thrust you into unknown spaces while still being practical in your approach. What you seek is seeking you. Be in the flow.

False Sense of Hope

For the next few months, I will choose a card from the African American Tarot deck as a prompt for my blog posts. Let’s see what spiritual insight I come up with!

2 of Swords + The Stars

I am in the process of writing my third book. Drumming up the discipline to write consistently has been no easy task. Yet, I keep pushing. At one point, the main character comes to a crossroads. She is faced with a major decision but has a great deal of confusion as to how she should proceed. This decision can and will alter the course of her life. Her mind says one thing and her heart says another. Her confusion stems from a false sense of hope. Hope keeps her from seeing the truth that is right before her eyes. She hopes circumstances will change enough to fit her vision of how things should be. Chances are they won’t.

When we ignore the truth and replace it with our hopes/dreams we choose to live in illusion. It is okay to be hopeful, it is not okay to use hope as a crutch. Are you accepting the truth of a situation or are you simply hoping things will change? Hope doesn’t alter reality, actions do.
